The Forest Policy Process, Regulatory, and Institutional Frameworks in Ethiopia

The purpose of the study is to examine trends forest policy process, its responses, legal frameworks, institutional developments, stakeholder relations, and roles, as well major driving causes policy, regulatory, practices in Ethiopia. A qualitative content analysis method was employed for study. review literature fundamentally based on data sources from archival relevant empirical studies, legal, strategy documents, supplemented with six key informants Federal Democratic Republic Ethiopia (FDRE) Ministry Agriculture, FDRE Forest Development, Environment Protection Authority who have leadership professional responsibilities relation interdisciplinary issues. result findings indicated that were top-down coercive. Moreover, historical legacies frameworks past regimes immensely affected performance current regulatory their strengths. Such an operation hindered public participation resulted poor outcomes. Therefore, recommends urgency creating strong inter-sectoral coordination forest-related matters, ensuring participation, freeing mandate allocation influence agriculture sector by balancing conservation intensification, independent bodies across tiers, providing necessary implementation directives guidelines, giving adequate support discharge roles at grassroots community level, suggested.
